Reporting to the Director of Program Management, you will identify and analyze risks and hazards associated with designs while ensuring systems remain operational and effective for a hybrid-powered, long-range Regional Air Mobility aircraft. You will help develop, refine, and update Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), System Safety Assessments (SSA/PSSA), and safety strategies ensuring that if aspects of the systems fail, the entire system is not in jeopardy of violating prescribed safety thresholds. You will support and provide guidance to all design teams in developing individual system safety assessments. You will coordinate and provide assistance to resources developing aircraft level hazard and safety assessments.
Position Responsibilities:
- Implement and evaluate all system safety programs
- Provide training to all personnel for all safety evaluation processes and oversee all activities for programs
- Evaluate all program documents and resolve all safety issues, coordinating with quality and certification team members to analyze all safety requirements
- Participate in various safety regulations and ensure compliance to all organization requirements
- Analyze and perform assessment on all safety hazards and recommend improvements to all human factor engineering processes and ensure optimal integration of safety features on designs
- Develop integrated system analysis plans
- Develop and implement all safety policies and procedures and coordinate with management staff to identify all risks and prepare reports for same
Required Skills / Experience:
- Nine years of related engineering experience
- Working knowledge of aircraft safety aspects
- Must have an Aeronautical/Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering Degree
Preferred Skills / Experience:
- 12 years of related engineering experience
- Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 25.1309 and FAA safety
- Knowledge of system safety tools
- Experience working on a diverse team to solve complex problems
- Strong understanding of mathematical and statistical methods applied to engineering problems
- Master’s degree or PhD in related field
Educational Experience:
Education typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically nine or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Masters qualification). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
